We have an addition!

More Picture Updates!

We now have the foundation for the addition! Of course, Dan and I had to have a ceremony in which we buried a shark's tooth for luck...you know us. Dan has been doing a lot of reframing, while I am going to be running even more wires.

Lots at Once

Dan has been spending many, many hours at the house, so it's been too much to update separately. He has been doing reframing within the house.

We got rid of the old master bath and are turning it into a small bedroom (for a nursery or office). We will therefore have five bedrooms, two baths on the top floor. However, Dan is putting in the stubbing in the small bedroom so we can turn it into a bathroom at any time.

We have also been rewiring the house. I installed a bunch of CAT5 wire, which is used for phones.

Dan has also been directing the crews laying the concrete for the new part of the basement. We're SO excited about this. We also had a ceremony in which we buried a shark's tooth under the new basement for luck. =)

Green Pledge

This website is giving away 100 gb for life for pledges to live life greenly. Environmental issues have always been close to my heart, and Dan and I are trying to build this home as environmentally as possible.

Here is our pledge:
We pledge to build this home as greenly as possible, including the use of rain-collecting cisterns, environmentally-safe materials, green insulation, and windows. In addition, we will continue to monitor photovoltaic batteries and other green energy sources to see if we can someday add solar power to the house (which we unfortunately cannot right now, due to the orientation of the house).
